I loved my time at the Animal Rescue Center. The staff and volunteers were all very nice, hard working, and passionate about their work.Country
Costa Rica was beautiful and I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the country. I felt safe and even though I did not speak the native language, I found communicating and navigating fairly easy.
Project & Staff
I felt like the time I spent at the Rescue Center was appropriately dedicated to work. One area of improvement is being oriented to the project. We didn't get a tour or finalize paperwork until mid-week, and I didn't receive a t-shirt until the day I was leaving.
Tips
We didn't realize we were not going directly to the Wildlife Rescue Center but would spend the first night in the Volunteer House in Santa Barbara de Heredia. I was disappointed with the waste of a day and lack of support provided at the house.
I would recommend other volunteers to clarify how and when they are getting to their actual project site. I would also recommend that volunteers be prepared to be constantly dirty and exposed to mosquitos at all times.
