In general, the trip exceeded our expectations. Svetlana was great: she met us at the airport, she dropped us off at the end of the week and even waited until the flight was open for check-in to ensure there were no problems, she let us come to Chisinau with her because she needed to go for her own university appointment, her sister gave us a tour of Causeni on our second day. She was also very open and understanding about our comfort levels with the students and teaching. Even though I am an experienced teacher and we were willing to do whatever she asked, she realized and communicated that no everyone wants to be hands on or can handle the schedule. She was appreciative of whatever time and assistance we could give her. She was also filled with information about Moldova!The homestay with family Cioban was also wonderful. Only the mother, Olga, spoke English, but it was never a problem. She was cheerful, welcoming, and was constantly asking us if we needed anything. There was always enough food and more than enough wine!! Our room/bed was clean and comfortable, and warm. The bathroom was also clean and there was never a problem with hot water or sharing it due to schedules of the family. Olga would ask us when we would be home so dinner or breakfast would be ready and she always told us 10 minutes in advance that the meal was almost finished!!
Again, the experience exceeded our expectations in so many different ways. I would recommend Moldova to anyone who asks!
