General Impression
Overall Rating:
/ 10The hands on experience with the animals was amazing. We learned so much about the Aussie wildlife (from mange treatment to how to "toilet" a joey) from Peter & Caroline. For two weeks we were kept busy with joey feeding, cleaning compounds, collecting wood for fire, building enclosures, clearing woodland & putting up fences. We were also shown the burrows where wombats are released, plus collected fresh grass for them on alternate days. We not only helped look after the wildlife & birds, but also with the farm animals and horses.Country
If you want rural, this is it - an ideal opportunity to step away from the rat race.
We were introduced to many of the locals, who all made us feel very welcome.
We were also taken at different times to the local towns of Holbrook, Jingellic & Wagga Wagga, plus across the border into Victoria to the town of Walwa.

Project & Staff
Both Caroline and Peter were amazing hosts. I really don't think you could ask for better, when welcoming you into their home, as their home quickly becomes your home too. They were both friendly and very funny to be around, plus very compassionate about all of their animals. They work really hard running the sanctuary by themselves, with the help of volunteers only. We can't thank them enough for this amazing opportunity.
Tips
No need to take towels.
Take warm clothes, gum boots, waterproof trousers & coat, plus warm gloves during the winter.
Don't go and spend time on your phone, make the most of the wildlife and your time there, as it all goes much to quickly.
