/ 10Golden Triangle ExperienceI completed my Golden Triangle placement today. What a wonderful experience!
Started in Delhi, picked up at the airport and taken to the volunteer house, the nicest I have stayed in (this is my fifth placement). Met Shankar, our coordinator, who gave us important information with great attention to detail. The following day we had our orientation with Rajeev, lots of info about India, Delhi and our project, including our itinerary.
The following day I began work at the school, lovely children, happy and playful. A very rewarding experience, it was hard to say goodbye.
Moved on to Agra and a one night stay in a beautiful hotel, then a tour of the Taj Mahal. It was even more impressive than I expected! Moved a bit outside of Agra for a placement with Wildlife S.O.S. Absolutely loved helping with the sloth bears and elephants. Also available at the volunteer accomodations, yoga and ayuvedic treatments! Again, hard to move on!
Finally, moved on to Jaipur. Transition not quite seamless, due to miscommunication, left standing at the Jaipur train station for about 40 minutes, frightening! Hotel not particularly clean and our guide failed to show up for a scheduled dinner with folk dancing. However, the guided day tours were wonderful and Jaipur is my favourite city in India (so far).
Back to Delhi by train for my flight to my next placement (in Palampur) Shankar and Rajeev taking great care to see that I safely made it to my next adventure.
Thanks to all here in Delhi, Agra, Jaipur and, of course, Love Volunteers!
